Day 2 - shoot

These are the pictures we took when filming on day 2, It shows the setting up of camera, the actors and miss en scene of the whole shoot.

weather report for day 2 shoot

This is the weather report for day 2 of shooting to illustrate what we need on each day and if we can film and the rough time scales for when it goes dark early because of winter.

Script change

This is the new copy that we would obviously print out for our new actors, this helps them act every scene, we changed the script again as part of planning from more stable actors, who we can rely on.

Whatsapp message conversation between group

These show us discussing whether or not to change the actors, voicing everyone's opinion, this helps us communicate even when were not in lesson, using technology.

Research and Planning the moving image work - PART 2

This a continued prezi comparing last year to this year, i wanted to explore and discuss all areas related.

research and planning moving image work - part 1

In this presentation we discussed the differences between AS and A2 in terms of what i have developed in skills wise. This helped me see what i needed to do this year on my blog compared to last year as well as what information i need for the exam about my skills in coursework.

Editing - day 2

In these images, we are continuing to edit the first shoot, and preparing for the second shoot, this shows the progression of out short film. To improve this we could take a video of us filming for a behind the scenes blooper and extra video for our blog using technology/software. The far back we see our two actors shorai and simone who are also helping with editing.

ACTORS - update

We now have Simone being the former male actor, as gender isn't really important, we have done this because both our actors have being unreliable or have other priorities and it would make it a lot easier for us as they are reliable from our cast crew, and can take it more serious.

Lights

we have decided to use lights for the cargo as it will be really dark, So because of logistics and time gap we have decided to buy them from poundland somewhere cheap as we don't really need them for a while and they dont have to be up to good quality and standard. The lights will be run on battery and will be wireless we just simply attach it to the wall.

Filming day 1

These are the images taken when we were filming day 1, we can see benedicite our camera women shooting and preparing the video, we also have videos of it before and after but for some reason it is not working on my blog so it is on simone's blog for reference. However, we were unable to record the amount of footage we wanted to film because it was raining and it got dark instantly. But at least we got something done to begin editing. We shot a variety of shots like long shots, mid shots, worm angles, We actually did have some scenes that were interrupted because of passing dogs. We were unable to also use the tripod because we didn't know how to set that particular tripod up. So we shot everything hand-held

weather report for Day 1

This is the weather report from filming Day 1 at hollow ponds this helps us to see what we need to prepare if it will rain etc.  As you can see it was raining so it didn't help us when filming as the camera was getting wet and we had no protective materials for it so that wasted time hen filming.

Day 1 of Editing first shoot

This image shows us using final cut pro to edit the footage, clipping some down and finalizing what footage worked and what doesn't.

This is the planning sheet where we wrote down that footage / clip is the definite one that we will use in the short film or consider using, making it easier for us to edit and decide if we need to film something again and what scenes we have for definite.

These three images are of our camera crew deciding what footage works, but because it is the first day it is easier to establish if we need more or something better at this point before it is too late. To make it more real and not rushed.

Changed storyboard

This is the changed storyboard where added more scenes and gave a greater detail of each scene. Because we changed the characters to two females and this would make it simpler.

Actors

These are images we took of the actresses.

Team Meeting - week 4

In Team meeting 4 we discussed the following after day 1 of filming that:

  • That Simone will be our new actor, replacing the male actor as gender isn't an issue.
  • That we should consider getting people to help us clear out the cargo and maybe put everything back in ( as that was the requirements in order for us to use the cargo) . Making the filming process quicker.
  • Benedicte will be our new main camera person.
  • We are starting to think ahead about images we would need for our posters, so taking pictures on set would be helpful.
  • Using more establishing shots.
  • Learn how to use a tripod better or get one that isn't broken.
  • Fix the noise of focus on camera, using different settings.
  • Take pictures when editing as well as filming, to show progress.
  • Talking about when to shoot each scene.
In this weeks team meeting we discussed the main issues on change of actors, who suits the role best , deciding on using members of our team for it to work out better it is much more reliable. So we had to change roles slightly. Eventually it all came into place.

Co - directors notes

These notes are like a script but for the Co - Director and Director to construct and compose each scene, quickly and effectively so there is no confusion this keeps us prepared for the short film making sure there are no mistakes and we follow the script effectively

Additional Cargo Ideas

These cargo ideas helped us plan and demonstrate what we are going to do in the cargo and why we need the cargo. Also what we need in the cargo and if we need help etc. From seeing the cargo. It contains images of what the cargo look like and what it is surrounded by the environment. And the props we found in and around the containment.

New script

This is the new updated script changing the names of the actors so that when they film it is less confusing and easier to follow for the director and co director also. This again makes the filming run smoother as they know what they are doing, without using dialogue

ACTORS

We have found a new actor to be the female victim/ killer in the short film, we are using Shorai our co - director, and voice over women because she will be more free and reliable, she has got experience in filming in our practice film before.
She is also not camera shy and we can now start filming from the 17/10/14

* We did not use the first planned date because of actors being unreliable but now we have found others and can start to film*

weather forecast

This is the weather forecast for today's filming, this helps us distinguish what time is better to film and whether to bring protective clothing or not. We have decided as a team to film after 4:20 (after college) when all the cast members are free and when their is more of a darker natural lighting. It shows that it won't rain today which is better in our favour as it will be easier to film, however, if it was raining we could make that effect on the camera during the establishing shot. It won't be sunny but it won't be that cold so we can film, if it does get cold we can bring extra layers. It also shows that the floor may be a bit wet because of the raining from the day before so we have to be extra careful to make sure no one slips.

Team Meeting - week 3

Team meeting notes:

In our third group meeting we discussed:
  • Actress changes
  • What days we will be filming what
  • what to do if one of the cast members can't make it - replacements
  • special effects what we can and cannot do, which colours and shades to use.
  • We've discussed where to film in hollow ponds.
  • We know what area to film in.
  • Progression of actors and members.
  • What the cargo looks like
This group meeting helped us distinguish what we need to discuss and prepare for the next tasks like filming, and the issues we had which should all be resolved soon.

Team meetings week 2

This team meeting for week 2 we discussed-

  • The back up plan if the actors are busy or don't plan out.
  • We have decided to start filming early incase of actors not being able to film.
  • We discussed that in order to film in the  cargo we need to clear everything out on time.
  • What props we would use, and where we are borrowing it from.
  • What costumes is most applicable and what they would own so they don't have to go out to buy anything.
  • The times e should film
  • The days we should film.
  • What we will do if one of the cast crew members cant make it.
In this week we started filming and deciding who we need and creating back up plans for things that don't go right like the actors and weather conditions, This helps us stress less when filming- keeping everything very organised and well prepared.

make up, pre production task 5

we might have bruising on the victims arm to represent the struggle when she is trying to escape out of the ropes, as she cuts herself a couple of times before getting it right, we will have a member of our production team to do it Simone who will do this.

Risk assessment form for cargo containment- task 5 pre production

This is the risk assessment for the cargo containment the assessment for the hollow ponds location as well helps us distinguish possible interruptions solving them before we go, to not waste time. This is also a more detailed and professional risk assessment than the one i posted before that one was ore of a brief draft a summary of our findings compared to this very detailed one.

Second bruise idea - SPECIAL EFFECTS

This is the second bruise, which shows the fall in the forest and from when she got carried away. This helps us prepare for the day incase this bruise best fits the scene more.

Cuts, SPECIAL EFFECTS

cut 1:

The first cut looks like a scar, using wax putting it on the hand then cutting through it. This is effective as we could many types of cuts on her to make it believable. The wax separated which makes it look even more real.

Cut 2:

The second cut looks dirty, which could show that she was out in the open in the forest, this also creates realism

Cut 3:

The third cut has more blood on it and looks more gruesome for harsh cuts
