Editing days 9-14

Here is a short summary of our findings and struggles during the process of editing in days -14. In those days we were prepared and organised as we have all our footage so it is just the matters of piecing them all together and adding in non - digetic music like backing tracks especially because of the scene where she is wearing headphones creating the effect that allows the audience to listen to what the actor is also listening too , or fades etc for consistency and so that it all flows much more clearly and easily.
Editing in day 2 was very interesting and a learning curve for us as we learnt new things on final cut pro seeing how our use of a variety of angles and shots came together and they flowed very nicely.
Editing techniques like changing the colours, for example in the cargo because the majority was all dark.

Mock up 2

This is another mock up like the case study i done on the phone call, using as central image and a dark background to create suspense.

more pictures

These pictures wont necessarily go into the case studies, it is additional research:

These are more pictures i took of more case studies for both poster and review these ones and the ones posted before have all caught our eye and we would want to implement those ideas onto our own print products to accompany our moving image

pictures for case studies 3.

These are the case studies i looked at that i found from primary sources which are from film magazines, these are all posters that help me see the codes and conventions i need for my own poster and what works well and what is generic for a particular genre.

pictures 2.

These are additional pictures i took of more case studies from other film magazines that i might not necessarily talk about in my case studies yet they still inspired me.

Team meeting week 6

we discussed:
  • images to use for the poster, and if we already have some from the shoot.
  • we decided on the film name 'On the Run'
  • We used a questionnaire using a popular vote from target audience.
  • We discussed the credits who to write for what role and people who helped additionally from outside our group.
  • We decided on how to make the music scarier turning it down etc.
In this week's team meeting we discussed what images we need and more about the print products to go with the film taking it into consideration even though e haven't fully finished the short film.

Wednesday 19 November 2014

Team meeting week 5

we discussed:
  • Adding sound for emphasis, music angler
  • The footage was long so we decided on where to cut it and make it shorter.
  • We also changed the voiceover to make it clearer and to make it more formal like a radio broadcast.
  • we  also discussed establishing shots to use in the beginning of the short film.
  • We discussed the lighting, whee to change it and how to change it using the colour correctors on final cut pro so that it blends properly.
This week we discussed and focus more on editing the footage, changing colours and adding filters. We discussed the footage we have and if we needed to go out and take more. We discussed the non diegetic music also and the impact of it.

Feedback of rough cut

This is the evaluation were we got feedback from the class, to improve our film, we will take this into consideration when going back to our final product.

Film Posters, case studies

These are inspirational film covers/posters that all relate to the thriller genre of the film we created. Some have location photography and some with actors as the main image. This also helps us work out what type of photography to use, the layout, structure and narrative of it.

MOCK UP 1 for pitch

This shows one of our ideas that we want to include on the poster, we done this on photoshop, changing levels, opacity etc, we initially want to see what the audience will think if we were to use it as a final design, the legs doesn't give an indication on who is running which is what we want. To improve this we would add typography on to the design to see how the whole thing would  look as an ideal poster for the film.

Saturday 15 November 2014

watching the final product

These are the scenes where we colour corrected them in order to make them lighter because the feedback we got was that it was too dark, so we made it lighter however not too late because it would make it look grey.

EDITING - day 7

These are more images of day 7 editing, finalising sounds, and footage, seeing what to leave and what we could take out as our film came to a longer period of time than we wanted.

Thursday 13 November 2014

Editing- Day 6

These are the planning sheets we used to show what clip we will use out of all the footage we took, these are also pictures of us discussing what to include what we should do and what footage is relevant. We also discussed team meeting decisions and what has changed, we stayed back after college hours and during lunch to complete our film getting continuous feedback in order for us to improve this film for our target audience.

Wednesday 12 November 2014

EDITING - DAY 5

Here we have contrasted the footage, as you can see from the colour wheel. and we have decided what to re take due to the lighting etc.

EDITING - DAY 4

During this process we found new filters changing the footage making it look more interesting. It makes it look more yellow, blue bright or dark. Making it more gloomy because some of our footage is light and some are very dark.

WEATHER REPORT Day 3-

The weather report for the first day we were filming in the container. This helped us decide whether we should leave some objects inside or outside incase of rain and wet weather. Also the bags we were carrying where we would put them etc and equipment. We didn't have to drag everything into college.

FILMING - DAY 3

These are images of the cargo which is located in college grounds, where we cleared out the cargo in order for us to film the kidnapping scene. we filmed only half of what we wanted to film due to time and having to put everything back into the container.Taking most of the items out took around 20 mins. putting everything back took around an hour due to heavy objects and gaps in the cargo.
The cargo was dark whilst we were filming so we bought additional lighting in order to view the people inside helping the camera person see also.
